For days after Emma’s disappearance, Jack’s reaction vacillates. After the news reported a serial killer on the loose, Jack fears that Emma might be another of the killer’s victims and rushes to the police to report her missing. As detectives investigate, Jack’s erratic behavior leads them to suspect that Jack, not a serial killer, is guilty of foul play.

The ghost story unfolds in two time periods. Chapters alternate between the Carlsons and the former owners whose struggles continue past their deaths. One chapter takes you back to the 1920s and into the lives of Nora and Alessandra. In the next chapter, their actions echo through time to manifest themselves in the present.
As the conflict between the two sisters escalates, so does the danger to Sandy. She must solve the mystery behind these warring spirits, as she is caught in the middle of their battles, and one of the ghosts is trying to harm her.
